Helvetropicxs is a platform created in 2022 by Veronica Casellas Jimenez, Patricio Gil Flood and Jorge Raka.
The project proposes to bring together a group of artists living in Switzerland under a genealogy of imagination and affective displacement. As a kind of cartography that traces sensitivities, influences, contemporary mestizajes*, poetics that entail a link with Latin America.
Beyond its role as a curatorial exercise, this project is designed to build a long-term network of collaborations that can influence the artistic landscape in which it operates. We envision this group as a point of articulation within the fragmented Swiss art scene, forging connections between its diverse manifestations and extending into other areas of research and creative practice.
Helvetropicxs will serve as an artistic platform that adapts to different circumstances, capable of evolving into an itinerant project, a site of research, a space for support, a vehicle for fiction, and a forum for exchange and articulation between internal and external agents—disrupting and questioning the (foreign) context it engages with.
We aim to circulate ideas, foster collaborations, and experiment with new forms of flexible, critical, and joyful exchange. Helvetropicxs will function as a place that comes to life according to specific contingencies—a space of welcome, relationship, and connection, an immaterial platform that evolves and adapts as needed.
